SUSTAINABILITY
Sustainability at True Data
Helping more people to create the future with intelligent data
Being able to deliver the right things to the right people at the right time is an age-old problem for organizations, and one that will only become more important in the future. By using data to improve precision, we can reduce needless waste and help realize a better future for both people and planet. In recent years, those in non-business fields have begun to use purchasing data—information on how people live their lives—to solve issues in local communities.
We believe in helping more people to create a future with intelligent data. By enabling people to use data to make decisions, bring about improvements, and initiate change, will help to create a more sustainable society. Therefore, we are actively working to provide data and expertise to educational institutions and other kinds of organizations.
Activities
PROGRAM 01
Incorporation of data into sustainability-related indicators
This year marks 10 years since Japan's 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami. The Human Security Forum, a non-profit organization, announced the creation of the "Miyagi Prefecture Human Security Index," with the aim of creating a Miyagi Prefecture which "leaves no one behind." We support this initiative by providing purchasing data that provides insights into local ways of life and can be used in a wide range of social sustainability-related indicators.PROGRAM 02
Data made widely and freely available
We have made access to national purchasing data available to anyone who would like to use it. Through URECON, a website powered by True Data that we launched in 2015, users can access the last three months' of data on around 500 food and daily necessities categories. In addition to businesses, this data is used as a marketing resource by educational institutions, such as high schools and universities.PROGRAM 03
Development of data specialists at educational institutions
In the age of data, it is essential to have not only highly specialized data scientists, but also talented employees that have the practical skills to decipher data and propose how to use it. In order to develop these human resources, we are leveraging our expertise in client-facing consulting to provide instructors, data, and educational programs to high schools and universities engaged in data education. Moreover, we are a corporate member of the Data driven Regional Education Association for Marketing (Dream) and actively participate in the development of the organization's programs.PROGRAM 04
Regional revitalization initiatives
In June 2019, we signed a partnership agreement with Sakata City in Yamagata Prefecture to contribute to their revitalization activities by using our data marketing expertise. Since then, we have implemented various initiatives, such as jointly developing AI solutions in collaboration with companies in Sakata City.In March 2021, through an industry-academia collaboration between Ehime Prefecture's Matsuyama Minami High School and local companies, we supported efforts by students to use data to develop the sales floor of a supermarket, thereby contributing to local economic revitalization.
PROGRAM 05
Supporting society with data
True Data has adopted remote and flexible working practices. Since distance does not present a barrier to working in the data industry, we are working to provide employment opportunities in certain sections of our business to people living in regional areas who may lack experience but are interested in working in digital transformation and data. Working together with our partners, we currently employ "Data Classification Meisters" in Munakata City, Fukuoka Prefecture and Sakata City, Yamagata Prefecture. In August 2021, we signed an agreement with the Human Security Forum and Kesennuma City in Miyagi Prefecture with the aim of realizing a Kesennuma City which "leaves no one behind," one of the principles of the UN's SDGs, and established initiatives to support women's employment in big-data-related businesses and opportunities for children.
